How does a lift-assist bollard work?
A lift-assist bollard works like any telescopic post: a sleeve is set in concrete in your drive, and the post lifts up and locks, or lowers into the ground so you can drive over it.
The difference is a built-in mechanism that takes most of the weight. Our steel lift-assist posts weigh 55kg (Standard) or 66kg (Tall), but you only lift about 7kg. The stainless post is about 6kg.
That makes them the right choice if bending and lifting is a struggle, if you'll be raising the post every day, or if you simply want a big, solid post without the effort.
Standard 670mm or Tall 850mm?
Every steel lift-assist colour comes in two heights. Choose Standard 670mm for most cars, or Tall 850mm for SUVs, 4x4s and vans, where a taller post stands out more next to the vehicle.
The Tall post goes deeper too, at 1,125mm against 960mm, which is why it costs £54 more. You choose the height when you get your price.
The stainless lift-assist comes in one height, 710mm.
How fitting works
A lift-assist post needs a deeper hole than a standard bollard. We'll confirm how long your job will take with your price.
Check and scan
We check utility records and scan the spot for buried cables and pipes before we touch the drive.
Core the drive
We core drill through the surface and dig down: 960mm for Standard, 1,125mm for Tall, a metre for stainless.
Set the sleeve
The ground sleeve goes in dead level and is set in concrete, so the post can't be pulled out.
Make good and hand over
We make good the surface around the lid, test the post and hand you the keys.
How much does a lift-assist bollard cost?
Every price is supplied and fitted, per post. That includes the cable scan, coring, the sleeve set in concrete, making good, two keys and taking the waste away.
Each extra post on the same job is £50 less. We're not VAT registered, so the price you see is the price you pay. There's no survey fee or call-out charge for homes.

Questions about lift-assist bollards
How much does a lift-assist bollard cost?
£1,295 fitted for a Standard 670mm steel post, £1,349 for Tall 850mm and £1,395 for the 710mm stainless post. Each extra post on the same job is £50 less.
How much weight do I actually lift?
About 7kg on our steel lift-assist posts and about 6kg on the stainless one. The steel posts weigh 55kg (Standard) or 66kg (Tall) overall.
Should I choose 670mm or 850mm?
Standard 670mm suits most cars. Tall 850mm stands out more next to SUVs, 4x4s and vans. If you're not sure, send us a photo of your drive and car and we'll advise.
Why does a lift-assist bollard cost more?
The post itself is bigger and has the lift mechanism built in, and it needs a deeper hole: up to 1,125mm for the Tall post. Both add to the price.
Which colours can I choose?
Black, red, blue, green, yellow, silver and white, plain galvanised, or brushed stainless steel.
Will it fit my driveway?
We fit into block paving, tarmac, resin, concrete and most other hard surfaces. Gravel drives are fine too, with a small concrete pad around the lid. Very soft ground and sites that flood regularly aren't suitable.
What if I lose a key?
Every bollard comes with two keys, and we can supply replacements or change the lock.
Where we fit
We fit across North Hampshire and Berkshire, from Basingstoke to Reading, Farnborough, Newbury, Andover and Winchester.
