Terms and conditions for home customers
Version 2, 29 October 2026.
These terms explain how quotes, booking, paying and cancelling work when we supply and fit bollards or parking posts at your home. Please read them before you book. We'll also email you a copy, with a cancellation form, when you book.
1. Who we are
Stratfield Protection is a trading name of Ian Turner, Unit 13, The Beresford Centre, Wade Road, Basingstoke RG24 8FA. Not VAT registered.
- Phone or WhatsApp: 0333 090 8181
- Email: hello@stratfieldprotection.co.uk
- Post: Unit 13, The Beresford Centre, Wade Road, Basingstoke RG24 8FA
"We", "us" and "our" mean Ian Turner, trading as Stratfield Protection. "You" means the person booking the work.
2. Who these terms are for
These terms are for home customers: people having work done at their own home, not for a business. For commercial sites, we agree terms with you when we send your quote.
You must own the property, or have the owner's permission to have posts fixed into the ground there. For flats, shared parking or private roads, we'll need an email from the owner or managing agent before you book.
We only fit posts on your own land, never on a pavement or verge.
3. Your quote
- We price your job from photos of your drive, without a visit. There's no survey fee or call-out charge for homes.
- Your quote is a fixed price for the posts, the fitting and everything listed in it. We're not VAT registered, so there's no VAT to add.
- Every quote is valid for 30 days, however we send it to you: online, by WhatsApp, by phone or by email. We'll show the date it runs out. After that, just ask us for a new one.
- The price won't change on the day unless we find something nobody could have known about from the photos, like a pipe or cable right where the post should go. If that happens, we'll explain, and agree any change with you before doing more. If you'd rather not go ahead, you can cancel and we'll refund your deposit in full.
- If our scan finds a cable or pipe where you want a post, we'll offer you another spot or another post, at the price we quoted or less. We'll never dig through a service. The price never goes up unless you agree first.
4. Booking and your deposit
- You book by choosing a fitting day and paying a deposit of 30% of your fixed price, rounded to the nearest pound (halves round up).
- You pay the deposit by card (Apple Pay and Google Pay work too) on a secure payment page run by Stripe, our payment provider. If we've quoted you by phone or WhatsApp, we'll send you a secure Stripe payment link, with these terms.
- Your booking is confirmed once the deposit is paid. We'll email you a confirmation with your booking details, and these terms and a cancellation form attached.
- If you booked online, we'll ask you by WhatsApp for photos of your drive.
- We'll message you on the last working day before your fitting to confirm the address and a 2-hour arrival window.
5. On the day
- Ian fits most jobs himself. Some jobs may be fitted by a checked fitter working for us. If so, we'll tell you before your fitting day. Your contract is still with us: you only ever pay us, our guarantees cover the fitter's work, and Ian deals with any problem.
- Please make sure the drive is clear where the posts are going (cars moved), and please be home on the day. If our scan shows a post can't go where you planned, we'll need to agree the new position with you.
- Before we come, please tell us about any pipes, cables or drains you know of on your drive. We scan for underground services before we dig. We're not responsible for damage to a service you didn't tell us about that our scan couldn't detect.
- If we can't get on to the drive when we arrive, we'll phone and WhatsApp you and wait 30 minutes. There's no charge if we still can't get on. We'll agree a new date with you.
- Before we dig, we'll agree where each post goes with you, photograph each position and ask you to confirm on a short form that the job can go ahead.
- We test each post (a post set in concrete is tested in place before the concrete goes in), fit it, make good the surface around each one, hand over the keys (or remotes, for an automatic bollard) and take the waste away. A concreted post is left lowered and locked. Please don't use it or drive over its lid for 24 hours while the concrete sets.
- We hand the keys only to you or an adult you name.
- At the end, we'll ask you to sign off the job on Ian's phone, and send you a summary with photos by WhatsApp.
- We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
- Some surfaces, such as older block paving or resin, may not match exactly where we make good around a post. If we think yours might not, we'll tell you before you book.
6. Paying the balance
- The rest of the price (the balance) is due on the day, once the job is finished and handed over. We'll give you an invoice on the day.
- If something isn't right at handover, we'll agree with you in writing what needs fixing and by when. You can hold back a fair part of the balance until it's fixed, and pay the rest on the day.
- You can pay before we leave, either by the card saved when you paid your deposit, or by bank transfer. For a bank transfer, we'll give you our bank details on the day by WhatsApp and on your invoice. The payee name you'll see is Ian Turner. Please use your booking reference as the payment reference.
- When you pay your deposit, Stripe saves your card securely. We never see your full card number. We'll only charge the balance to that saved card if you tell us to on the day. We won't charge it without your go-ahead. Once your job is paid for, we remove the saved card.
- If the balance isn't paid on the day, please pay it within 7 days of the fitting day (the last fitting day, if your job takes more than one). We'll remind you by WhatsApp, email and phone. The posts stay ours until you've paid in full.
7. Changing your fitting date
- You can move your date free of charge. Please tell us as soon as you can, and we'll agree the next date that suits you.
- If we need to move your date, for example because of the weather, a late delivery or a missing reply from a utility company, we'll tell you as soon as we know. You can choose the next free date, or a full refund.
8. Cancelling
Before we fit your posts
- If you cancel more than 48 hours before your fitting is due to start, we'll refund everything you've paid. Your booking confirmation shows the exact cut-off time.
- If you cancel within 48 hours of your fitting, we'll refund your deposit less any costs we've already paid out and can't get back, such as express delivery or a post ordered specially for you. We'll tell you what those costs are, with proof.
- If you cancel after we've started work but before it's finished, you'll only pay for the work already done.
Once your posts are fitted
- Once your posts are fitted, they're fixed into your drive and the job is done. From then on you can't cancel the order.
- This doesn't affect your rights if anything we supply is faulty or isn't fitted properly (section 9).
Your legal right to cancel
- Because you order from us online or by phone, the law gives you a right to cancel without giving a reason. For an order that includes posts, it lasts until 14 days after the day you receive the posts, which for most jobs is the day we fit them.
- Our posts are fixed into your drive when they're fitted, so we treat that right as ending once the job is done.
- Fitting your posts means starting the work while you still have that right. By booking a fitting date and paying your deposit, you're asking us to do that. You don't need to tick a separate box or sign anything else to ask for this. By booking, you also accept that once the job is finished you can no longer cancel it.
- If the law gives you more than these terms do in your case, the law applies.
How to cancel
- Tell us clearly that you want to cancel, by email, WhatsApp, phone or post, using the details in section 1. You can use the cancellation form at the end of these terms, but you don't have to. Email or WhatsApp gives us both a written record.
Your refund
- Where a refund is due, we'll pay it within 14 days of you telling us you're cancelling.
- We'll refund it to the card you paid with, unless you agree with us to be paid another way.
- We don't charge a fee for refunding you.
9. Your legal rights
The law gives you rights that these terms can't take away. In short:
- We must do the work with reasonable care and skill. If we don't, you can ask us to put it right at no extra cost to you, or in some cases ask for a price reduction.
- The posts we supply must be of satisfactory quality, and we must fit them correctly. If a post is faulty or isn't fitted correctly, you may be entitled to a repair, a replacement, a price reduction or a refund, depending on the fault and when it shows up.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility to you where the law doesn't allow it.
10. Our guarantees
Our guarantees are set out on our guarantee page, stratfieldprotection.co.uk/guarantee/. They're on top of your legal rights, not instead of them.
A bollard is a physical security measure, not insurance. Please keep your vehicle insured as normal.
11. If something isn't right
Please check the work when we finish and tell Ian straight away if anything isn't right, by phone, WhatsApp, email or post. If you write by post, keep proof of posting. We'll reply by the end of the next working day, and visit and put things right within 28 days where needed.
12. Your information
We use your details to quote, book, fit and look after your job. Our privacy notice, at stratfieldprotection.co.uk/privacy/, explains what we keep, why and for how long.
13. These terms
The terms that apply to your job are the version we emailed you when you booked. If we update these terms later, that won't change a job you've already booked.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or in Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
Cancellation form
Only fill in and send this form if you want to cancel your contract. You can also just tell us.
